Perhaps what is most worrying is what happens behind the scenes. Artificial intelligence learns from a vast sea of data, some of which is subject to intellectual property rights, and some of which is protected by international laws. When the system produces a work similar to a famous painting or a text close to a novel sold in bookstores, who bears the responsibility? Does the owner of the original work have the right to object? And can the machine be held accountable for (the imitation)
In Saudi Arabia, legislation is moving at an accelerated pace to keep up with this wave, especially in light of the major digital transformation within Vision 2030. It is expected that in the coming years we will see rules regulating the ownership of generative content, the responsibility for data use, and the limits of intellectual property protection when humans and machines become partners in creativity
But what is certain is that this new era will not keep legal standards as they are. Creativity is no longer the exclusive domain of man, and the law will not be able to ignore that for long. We are facing a stage in which new rules are being written, not only concerning the rights of the author, but also the rights of the future
The question remains: Are we ready for a time when artificial intelligence innovates and laws are rewritten
